Welcome to LockedIn ("we", "our", or "the platform"). We provide a focused digital workspace for students and lifelong learners to organize study subjects, maintain structured notes, generate active-recall flashcards, take quizzes, and track dedicated study sessions.

This Privacy Policy explains the types of personal and study information we collect, why we collect it, how it is processed and secured, and your rights regarding your data when using our web application and services.

02Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide, synchronize, and improve your personal learning experience. This includes:

• Account & Identity Information: Your email address, account password (securely hashed by our authentication provider), display name, educational institution, course or grade, and age if you choose to provide them in your profile.
• Study Materials & Notes: Subjects, topics, note content, flashcards (manually created or saved from AI drafts), study goals, and reminder preferences.
• Learning Activity & Session Statistics: Quiz scores, question responses, study session durations, focus intervals, daily focus progress, and mastery calculations used to generate your personal study analytics.
• Support & Feedback Submissions: Information you submit when reporting bugs, requesting features, or contacting support, including issue descriptions, optional user-uploaded screenshots, and client diagnostics (such as browser type, operating system, screen dimensions, and app URL) to help us troubleshoot technical issues.
• Technical & Activity Signals: Device environment data, session timestamps, and presence indicators used to coordinate multi-tab synchronization and prevent concurrent session conflicts.

03How We Use Information

We use the collected information for the following specific purposes:

• To provide, maintain, and synchronize your study workspace seamlessly across your devices.
• To calculate active-recall quiz performance, mistake tracking, and subject mastery analytics.
• To process on-demand AI flashcard generation requests when initiated by you.
• To enforce fair-use daily and monthly usage limits on automated features to maintain system stability.
• To communicate important service notifications, account verification emails, and support responses.
• To detect, investigate, and prevent unauthorized access, abuse, and technical failures.

04AI and Third-Party Processing

LockedIn incorporates artificial intelligence features to assist you in creating revision flashcards from your study notes.

• Explicit Activation: Your study notes are never sent for AI processing in the background. Content is only processed when you open the AI Generation tool and click "Generate Flashcards" or "Refresh".
• Content Transmitted: When an AI request is made, only the text of the selected topic note, the topic title, and your chosen card count are securely transmitted to our AI service provider.
• AI Service Provider: AI generation is powered by Google Gemini. Data sent for generation is processed strictly to return flashcard question-and-answer pairs and is not used to train public foundation models without permission.
• Operational Ledger: We retain high-level generation records (timestamps, token volume, and success/failure status) solely for rate limiting, abuse prevention, and service reliability.

05Infrastructure and Service Providers

To deliver a reliable cloud-synchronized experience, we rely on trusted infrastructure providers:

• Cloud Database & Authentication: Google Cloud / Firebase provides secure user authentication, encrypted database storage, and secure media storage for optional support screenshots.
• Web Hosting & Edge Infrastructure: Vercel hosts our web application and serverless processing layer.
• Transactional Email Delivery: SendGrid handles transactional emails, including verification links and support notifications.

06Analytics and Operational Data

We collect high-level operational telemetry and web analytics to understand feature usage, measure performance, and diagnose application errors. This telemetry contains aggregated usage patterns (such as study session completions and navigation trends) rather than the private text of your notes.

07Data Storage and Retention

Your account information, subjects, notes, flashcards, and study statistics are retained for as long as your account remains active or as needed to provide our educational services. If you modify or delete notes, topics, or flashcards within the application, your changes are synchronized immediately.

08Data Security

We implement administrative and technical security measures designed to protect your information against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. All communication between your browser and our servers is encrypted using modern Transport Layer Security (TLS/HTTPS). Server-side authorization rules ensure that only your authenticated account has access to your private study decks.

Please note that no digital platform or electronic transmission can guarantee 100% invulnerability. We encourage you to use a unique, strong password for your account.

09User Rights & Account Management

You have control over your data within LockedIn:

• Access & Edit: You can view and update your profile details (name, educational institution, course, and age) anytime in Settings.
• Manage Content: You can add, edit, or remove subjects, topics, notes, flashcards, and study goals directly from your Library and Quiz sections.
• Account Inquiries: For questions regarding your personal information or assistance with your account, please contact us via the in-app Support center or email us at connectluthfi@gmail.com.

10Children's Privacy

LockedIn is designed as an educational productivity tool for students and adult learners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without appropriate parental or institutional authorization. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without consent, please contact us so we can take appropriate steps.

11Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect improvements to our platform or changes in legal requirements. When updates occur, the "Effective" date at the top of this policy will be revised.
